Who are the cats featured on our header image?
Left to right the cats are:
Brother and sister Kiera and Kane
Layla
Leigh
Rambo (FIV+)
Robbie
Scrap
All of these cats were turned in to Greenville County Animal Care Services in South Carolina during October and November 2010. All were RED LISTED.
You know what that means: scheduled for euthanasia. Greenville usually destroys cats on Monday mornings.
We sponsored each of the cats. The cost is $40 for a neuter and $50 for an unneutered cat. Robbie and Scrap were lucky enough to be adopted or rescued by others.
Nobody came for the others. We couldn’t let them be PTS.
Thankfully Greenville is rescue friendly.
We agreed to rescue Rambo, Kiera and Kan, Layla and Rosemary. Rambo tested positive for FIV and the caring staff at Greenville found him local rescue.
The others went to Furry Friends Rescue Center at HI C Farms in Clover, South Carolina. Furry Friends is run by the wonderful Melissa Stone. All our rescue cats are available for adoption once they have been quarantined.
The rescue and boarding of these cats costs between $5 and $8 per day. We can’t continue this program without additional help. Costs to date are over $2000 (updated 10 Dec 2010).
